Denver
Competition and Field Trip
March 9-10, 2001

This year, 28 students
from the Japanese program participated in the second annual "Denver
Competition and Field Trip."
The students visited
various placed in Denver related to Japan: Consulate General of
Japan in Denver, Denver Art Museum (Asian collection), Denver
Buddhist Temple, and so on.
At the "Japan
Bowl (nationwide academic competition for Japanese learners),"
we were the only participants from Wyoming. A NCHS
team consisting of Joe
Fiumara and Jeremy Gish (seniors)
missed the regional final by one question and ranked 4th. A KWHS team consisting of Zach Dippert
(senior), Allie
Fenton(senior), and Leah Heidenreich (sophmore) placed 5th. This year 25 teams
participated from Colorado and Wyoming. We are very proud of our
teams from Casper.
This is the second
year for us to compete with Japanese learners in the Rocky Mountain
Region. The top three teams can go to the regional final and the
winner goes on to Washington D.C. in April for the national competition.
